She's Here!

Addie Gene was born September 24. She weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz., was 20 inches long, and BLOND! I love having another blondie in the house. So far Addie is a sweet, easy going baby who loves to cuddle. I've never had a baby like this. I almost don't know what to do with her. Milee and Lyla love having a baby in the house. I was worried how Lyla would react, but she just loves Addie. I can't believe I have three kids! Three girls nonetheless. Our house is full of drama, but Colby and I love our beautiful girls.

One Last Hoorah

We had one last hoorah before the baby came. Over Labor Day weekend, we went camping at Tony's Grove. It was such a beautiful spot. We fished and played and enjoyed being outside in the nice weather.

Mini Hi-Lo's

My cousin Mazey is on the Hi-Lo drill team this year. I signed the girls up for their mini camp. They had two practices and then got to perform at half-time during the football game. They both did so well and knew every step of the dance.

The First Grader

Summer has come and gone once again. School has started and I can't believe Milee is a First Grader! She loves school and has already made tons of new friends. Every time I look at her she seems a bit older, which makes me feel a bit older. Her favorite part of school is lunch. I guess that doesn't say much for my cooking!

A Day at the Beach

It wouldn't be summer without a trip to Bear Lake. My girls were fearless on the wave runner. I avoided it thinking all that bouncing would put me into labor.

My Little Mermaids

We spent many days at the pool this summer. Milee and Lyla took two sessions of swimming lessons. I am amazed at how much they learned and how brave they got after only a few lessons.

Our New Cousin

My sister had a baby girl in July. We were all excited to see Gracie Rose the day she was born. It made me a little antsy to have my own baby girl. I know these cousins will be best friends.

A New Start

Alright, here it is. I have updated my blog by threats of my friend Jenny. I have posted all our most exciting events since the beginning of the year, so make sure to look at all the tabs under 2010. I left off our two most exciting events because I don't have photos, but here they are:

#1 In December we bought a new house. We love it! The neighborhood is great and we are finding out just how much work a new house can be. I will post a picture once we get our yard in. The dirt is not much to look at. Just a warning, this photo may not happen until next Spring.

#2 At the end of September we will be welcoming baby girl number three into our family. Lyla is so excited to be a big sister. Milee is hoping she will come out a boy. Colby loves his girls and seems to be very accepting of the fact that he is now and will always be outnumbered. I am looking forward to having three sweet, darling girls to dress, do hair, take to dance, deal with drama...wait a minute...

Fantastic Fourth

I love the Fourth of July! It doesn't really feel like summer until the fourth. We went to the parade in Hyrum (crazy madness), then went back to Grandma and Grandpa Anderson's for swimming and eating. The night ended with great fireworks. Is there anything more perfect?

Dino Day

I have to put our Dinosaur Park pictures up. My sister and I have taken the kids to the park three years in a row. They always have so much fun. Every year we look for Ross Geller, but he never shows.

Milee's 6!

Milee's birthday was our next major event. She wanted a "Princess and the Frog" party. We made princess frog magnets, played Fetch the Fly, Tiana's Restaurant Relay, and Kiss the Frog. Milee loved her cupcake cake. Party's are so much work. I always wonder why I agree to them, but all the girls had fun. Thank goodness next year is my year off! Oh wait, I have Lyla...

Dance, Dance, Dance

We ended another fantastic season of dance and gymnastics. Milee's recital was long, but so fun! She was in four performances, and I couldn't be more proud. She especially loved having class with her two friends, Brooklyn and Ally.

Happy Hikers

Also in May, we made a trip to St. George with my Everton cousins. We loved the hot weather and especially our hike in Zion National Park. The girls were so good and hiked the trail to Emerald Pools with no complaints.

Soccer Season

Milee played soccer for the first time this season. Her team was pretty good, winning more games than they lost thanks to a couple star players. Colby even got roped into being an assistant coach. He rolled his eyes every time he had to help, but we all know he loved every second! I know Milee loved having him there also.

Lyla's 3!

Lyla turned three in May. She has developed quite the personality, and I have to say whoever said "Terrible Twos" is completely mistaken. It is most definitely "Terrible Threes." She is still sweet, but very defiant and stubborn. She loved her new bike and rides it every day.

The East Side

I started Spring with a fabulous trip with my parents to Baltimore, MD to visit my brother. Inner Harbor is so fun with lots of shopping and restaurants. New York is always a good time. We did all the touristy sight-seeing stuff. I even won tickets to "Wicked!" I sat on the front row and loved every second! We took the ferry boat ride out to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Central Park was one of my favorite parts because though it is in the middle of the city, it is still a peaceful place to walk around and enjoy nature's beauty.

I also loved Washington DC. We toured the White House and visited two of the Smithsonian Museums - The American History Museum and the Museum of Natural History. Then we saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Monument, and everything in between. I was exhausted after this trip, but it was one I will never forget.

Winter Days

We started the year with another round of skiing lessons. Milee is quite the dare devil. She loves to go fast! Lyla even got on skis this year and has caught the bug. Colby taught again this season, and made it through with only minor injuries this time.

First Day of School

Milee started preschool this month at Rainbow Corner. She was born to go to school. She loves it and has already learned so much. The house is kind of empty without her, but I somehow manage some quiet time, which I'll admit I LOVE!

Jackson Hole

Of course we stopped in Victor for our favorite shakes and some classy photos!

We spent one day floating the creek. What an adventure with five kids and seven adults, but we always love it and laugh about our dumb ideas later. Lyla loves uncle Zach because he will get into the freezing water with her. She couldn't care less. It took all my might to keep her in the boat!

We took our annual trip to Jackson Hole over Labor Day weekend (after a five-year break). We actually stayed in a small town called Driggs in Idaho and took the short drive over to Jackson. As you can see, we met the locals and I fell in love with one of them. We love looking in the shops and of course had our picture taken by the arch of antlers.

I just thought this was a cute one of Lyla.

Swingin' From Trees

Milee begged Colby for a swing, so he rigged one up with some rope and a dowel he cut in half. The girls love it! Milee loves to do tricks. She thinks she is a pro on the bars now that she is in gymnastics.

Oh Lyla

I have learned to deal with these little mishaps by laughing and saying, with a big sigh of course, "Oh Lyla." She found a blue marker one day, washable thank goodness, and decided to color herself. She walked in the room where I was with a huge smile on her face and hiding the marker behind her back.

Garden Fresh

I am so excited about and proud of our garden this year. Because this is the first year we've had a yard, we decided to try out our green thumbs. We planted zucchini, watermelon, cucumber, basil, scallions, radishes, green peppers, hot peppers, and peas. I love walking outside and picking our fresh veggies (the watermelon's not quite ready).

Rained Out

Colby plays in a softball league every summer. All season we sat in the hot sun and cheered his team on, but the final game was a wet one! It started out nice, then all of a sudden, the rain started pouring. Milee and Lyla were not too thrilled, so I ran them to the car and we watch out the windshield. The Square One Printing team took third place; the best they have done in the four years they have been playing together. Way to go!

Trekies

We are so lucky to live close to Logan Canyon. We trekked the River Walk Trail one afternoon. The girls both did so well. Colby carried Lyla in the pack on his back and Milee walked the whole way carrying her own backpack with her water bottle inside. Milee is our little Collection Girl, so we ended up bringing home a load of rocks, leaves, and sticks. We all enjoyed the shady spot by the river and had to drag the girls away to make our way back to the car.

Beach Bums

We have had some great weekends at Bear Lake this summer. The kids love the water and the sand. Lyla is fearless. She runs out into the lake screaming and laughing. Milee, on the other hand, loves to roll around in the hot sand. We take our little grill and cook hot dogs right on the beach. Somehow they taste so much better that way. I am so sad that summer is over, but I know I have next year to look forward to.

Dinosaur Adventure

My sister Kari and I took the kids to the dinosaur park in Ogden Canyon. It was great! We saw tons of dinosaurs, fossils, and other cool stuff (except Ross Geller). The kids really enjoyed the afternoon. We had lunch at the cafe there, and ate yummy dino food. I recommend this outing for anyone who lives close enough to go, but plan on spending three to four hours (including lunch).

Crack Couch

A while ago, I was playing a super fun game with Lyla. She would shove my bracelets between the cushions of the couch and I would pull them out. Totally entertaining to a one-year-old. Well the last time she stuck them between the cushions, they just disappeared. I pulled all the cushions off and look under the couch but they were gone. We decided to tip the couch on its back and see if they would fall out. When that didn't work either, we sliced the fabric on the bottom of the couch, and as you can see, we found a whole lot more than bracelets. Some of those toys had been missing for probably a year, and I just assumed they were gone forever. Milee thought it was so hilarious and deemed our couch the "Crack Couch."

We went fishing up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, and of course, Milee was the only one to catch a fish. It's got to be the Barbie pole.

Fantastic Fourth

We had a great Fourth of July. The girls looked so cute in their new outfits from Grandma Sib. The parade was hot, but the kids got loads of candy. Lyla about dragged me down the street chasing after the sweets. The big kids better watch out next year.

We had yummy food after the parade, and the kids spent all day in the water. We closed the holiday with a professional fireworks show put on by Colby.

Pig Party

Milee turned four, and we decided to have a pig party. We had pin the tail on the pig, watched "Three Pigs and a Baby," smacked a pig pinata, and had pig cupcakes while wearing pig ears and noses. As you can see, she made a haul.

We love having a garden even though it takes a lot of hard work. The girls are good helpers, and they even find new friends hiding in the dirt once in a while.

Milee was so wonderful at her first dance review. She had to do three dances: ballet, tap, and jazz. I was so proud, she knew the steps, and even made a fish face during the "Under the Sea" routine!

Colby went turkey hunting again this year, but was bombarded with snow, not turkeys. I know the boys had a great time anyway, even though they didn't bring home any Toms. Better luck next year!

We had a big family party the Sunday after Lyla's birthday. We decided she hadn't had enough sugar with the PB tart, so Grandma Sib made her a fabulous cake. Of course she snarfed that down too. She got great presents, and especially loves her pool and slide.

Milee begged me to take her to Baby Animal Days at the American West Heritage Center. It was so cold that day, but that meant no one would be there. We walked right up to every animal instead of having to fight the crowds. The girls loved all the baby chicks, cows, pigs, horses, lambs, ducks, and any other animal you can think of.

Don't my girls look beautiful? I love holidays because I get to dress the girls up so cute (not that they aren't cute everyday, right?). Milee was so excited to wear her gloves that Grandma Jani bought. She wore them almost everyday until Easter. We had a fabulous day at church and then to Aunt Mary Ann's for a delicious dinner and games.

The day before Easter, we went to Grandma and Grandpa Carter's for extreme family fun. We played Easter Bingo, Don't Crack the Egg, and Easter Egg Relay. Excellent prizes were awarded, and I can't wait for the rematch next year.

Invasion of the Disney Princesses

My sister Kari and I surprised the girls with tickets to Disney Princess on Ice. They were ecstatic when they found out where we were going! They all watched the show with with their eyes wide open and their jaws about on the floor. I have to admit, it was entertaining. I just want you all to imagine one thing...thousands of little girls, all in princess dresses, flocking to the Energy Solutions Arena. I am not kidding; tiny princesses everywhere!

Tissue Terminator

Milee spotted a dead fly the other day. Her immediate reaction was screaming and running away (she hates bugs). Then from out of nowhere, she determinately proclaimed, "I'm going to get that fly." She grabbed a tissue, picked up the fly, and put it in the garbage. Later I was telling Colby all about her adventure and explained to him how she got the fly all by herself when she proudly stated, "Yeah, I got it with my Puffs Plus!"

We thought we were going to be in the middle of an Alfred Hitchcock movie when we decided to feed the ducks at First Dam. Even though it was still freezing and snow was on the ground, the ducks have migrated back to the dam. Milee saw them one day and decided we had to give them some bread. They flocked to us so quickly that we thought we were going to be attacked.

It's a sad day in the Anderson home; well, at least for me. Brett Favre retired today. The greatest quarterback of all time (no arguments), has decided to leave my Green Bay Packers, yes I said MY Packers. I know I said in the past that it was time for him to go, but this last season was so great! I really wanted to see him go one more. It won't be the same watching my team play, but I still love them!

Fire on 9th

Last Saturday we got a call from one of our friends in our old ward. The apartment we lived in for six and a half years and moved from four months ago was on fire. The fire actually started in the apartment next to ours. A lamp tipped over and landed in a laundry basket. The fire spread through almost the entire upstairs of the other apartment and traveled over into what was once our daughters' room. The couple who live in the apartment are our friends and Jackson is Colby's work colleague. The apartment we had been living in luckily was still vacant, but our hearts go out to Jackson and Celeste who lost so much.

The Star

Milee has been taking ballet and tap at Tueller School of Dance for a little over five months now. She loves it and is always ready to show off her new moves. Her dance revue is in May and she wants to invite everyone she knows.

Rockin' New Year's Eve

We hosted quite the New Year's Eve party this year. We had tons of food and played games until midnight. Some of Colby's colleagues are competing in their own version of The Biggest Loser, and got their fix of junk food at the party. Colby and I were introduced to two fun new games called Celebrity and Doctor Lucky. Most of the kids even stayed up until the next year. Milee, as seen above, did not. I checked on her often, but about four minutes to midnight she finally gave in to sleep.

To Grandmother's House We Go

Our Christmas Day fun was not over yet. We headed to Layton to my parent's house where the girls were again lavished with gifts. Grandma and Grandpa gave the older girls sleepover bags, jammies, and bathrobes.

Santa brought everything on Milee's list: Baby Alive, a diaper bag with changing pad and front carrier, and "Mary Poppins." Milee's inner mom came out right away. We immediately had to fill a bottle to feed Baby Alive and wait for her to "pee," so we could change her diaper

The girls dug in right away. They needed no instructions or direction. Milee is an old pro at Christmas morning, and Lyla caught on fast.

Christmas Eve Extravaganza

Christmas Eve was so fun this year. We decided to start a new tradition, which we stole from the Pounders-Thank You! We went to breakfast at Angie's and a movie, "The Chipmunks." Afterward, we headed out to Hyrum in the snowstorm. We made it safely and enjoyed the rest of the day and evening. The girls made a haul, as usual. Colby got a Shop Vac, which I think I was more excited about. We got a great surprise from Colby's brother Ryan and wife Teresa-a new baby due in August! We are excited for Lyla to have a cousin on the Anderson side close to her age.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

My mom borrowed some costumes so we could perform the nativity. We should all move to Hollywood. We have such diverse actors and actresses in my family. Each of the young girls wanted to be Mary, so we got to see the play three times. Here is Milee as Mary, but she also played the angel and a wisegirl.

We aren't sure if the wiseman in the middle is really a man.

Lyla didn't get to participate in the show, so she entertained herself with the wrapping paper. I don't mean to reiterate the fact that everyone says you could just give babies wrapping paper for Christmas and they would be perfectly happy, but isn't it the truth?

Santa's Surprise

My sister Kari and I decided to take over the Niederhauser family Christmas party this year. Let me tell you, we should be official party planners. We took this regularly drab party and blew the roof off. We invited Santa to come, but didn't tell any of the kids. They were so excited when they heard his jingle bells coming down the hall. I wish I had had a camera to capture the look on Milee's face. The best part of having Santa come was that he brought a special gift for everyone. Milee loves her pink baseball mitt that lights up when you catch the ball. Obviously Lyla was more impressed with the candy cane than her present. She is a treat addict like her mother. I got a new shirt and Colby snuggled into his slippers.

Bye, Bye Birdie

In December Colby was invited to join my dad and brother-in-law, Scott on a hunt at Sportsman's Paradise. The hunt lasted all day. They spent the morning hunting the flats along the river and the ponds. After the morning hunt they went back to the house where they were fed a trout lunch. Colby said it was the best trout he has had in a long time. After lunch they went to the skeet range, where a contest was held to see who could hit the most clay pigeons. Colby was doing really well until Scott told him that the winner got a hundred dollars. Because of nerves, he missed the next three. At the end of the rounds he ended up tying with another gentleman. It came down to a shoot off. After a few very nerve-racking minutes, he came out on top. Colby said it felt pretty good to beat 12 other two-handed guys.

After the skeet contest, they went out for the afternoon European hunt. Basically you stand in a line and the birds fly over your head and you sling as much lead at the poor birds as you can. The funny thing about this hunt is that they call it a gentleman's hunt (more like a slaughter hunt). During the European hunt, one of the pheasants that was killed came down on one of the vehicals and left a pretty nice dent. A few minutes later another pheasant was shot and it came down on Dad's truck. Colby says that hanging out with the Scott's hunting or fishing is always a good time.

Happy Turkey Day

We had Thanksgiving dinner in Hyrum this year. The food was great! I made my favorite Green Bean Supreme, Pretzel Salad, and both Oatmeal and Hershey pies. We played Tetris, Crazy Rummy, and Pit. The kids played all day and were so excited to watch "Shrek the Third." I would also like to remind everyone that both the Packers and the Cowboys won their Thanksgiving Day games. WooHoo!

This is all that was left after we stuffed our faces.

I think we could have used at least one more pie.

One brave soul is ready for bed. We needed our beauty sleep in order to face the madness that lay ahead for us. Lyla and I drove to Layton Thanksgiving night with Aunt Mary Ann. We were up early to dive into the insanity of "Black Friday." We had the best time! Target is always our favorite place to go and that is why we spent two hours there. We also stopped at the mall, and Toys R Us. Lyla was a great shopper and was actually pretty happy all day even though I made her get up at 6:30 a.m. I am already excited for next year!

Battle Wounds

Lyla had her six-month check-up last week. She now weighs 16 lbs. 10 oz. and is 26 1/2 in. long. That puts her in the 50 percentile for weight and 75 percentile for height. It's looking like we might have a basketball player on our hands. Watch out WNBA, here she comes! Colby's just excited because he might get an above-average height child. As you can see, she had shots too including her first round of the flu shot. Milee also got a flu shot and has reminded us daily that she is never doing that again. She made sure to be extra careful when getting dressed not to touch the bandage, and wouldn't let me take it off. She announced she was finally all better when Wiley Coyote fell off in the bathtub.

Nerd Herd

The employees of Hell's Basement A.K.A. Advent Creative, located at 666 North Main, decided it was appropriate to throw a Halloween bash. Colby and I went as nerds. Afterward, the girls were feeling left out and wanted to be a part of our Nerd Herd. Colby put the glasses on Lyla and we realized the she is a mini-me of Drew Carey. Milee has the meanest nerd-face around. You'd better be careful with this one, she has the quickest pocket-protector draw in the west.

Halloween

The girls were so cute for Halloween. Milee was an Aggie football girl complete with corn rows and shoulder pads. We had a good laugh about the balloon shoulder pads that kept slipping down to just the right spot. Milee turned out to be a trick-or-treat junkie. Even though the USU Aggie football team has been pushed around this season, I know one Aggie who can hold her own. When one of the big kids knocked her off the curb, Milee told her straight up, "watch where you're going, GIRL!" She could have gone all night had we not made her stop. About half-way through the evening she got tired of ringing the doorbell and say the standard "trick-or-treat" and went with plain old "boo" instead. Lyla was the cutest witch I've ever seen. She didn't even fight the hat. Even though she didn't get to go trick-or-treating, she still had an important job of monitoring the candy flow at Aunt Mary Ann's.

Grandma Sib surprised the girls with matching pajamas. They needed something snuggly to climb into after a gruesome night of trick-or-treating.

Gardner Village

Milee, Lyla, and I, along with Grandma Jani, Aunt Kari, and cousins, went to Gardner Village to see "The Witches." The girls had a great time posing for pictures with all the silly witches. We had plenty of time to walk around since we had an hour and a half wait for lunch. Jokingly, we asked ourselves why we attempt to go anywhere with three crazy girls and two babies. If you've ever experienced the princess luncheon at Disneyland, you'd ask yourself the same question. Next year we decided to stop at Wendy's first.
